Councilmember Sinanyan Selected as Mayor


Glendale, CA – On Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018, Councilmember Zareh Sinanyan was selected as the new Mayor by fellow Council Members. Glendale Council Members are elected by the public at large, while the Mayor is selected by the Council Members on an annual basis. Glendale Council Members serve four-year terms with an election cycle every two years.

Mr. Sinanyan was elected to the Glendale City Council in April -2013, and has been directly involved with the City of Glendale as a past Commissioner on the Community Services & Parks Commission, as well as past Chair and Commissioner of the Community Development Block Grant Advisory Committee. He currently serves as Chair of Eco-Rapid Transit, Vice-President of the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority, Board Member of the Metropolitan Water District, and Member of the Southern California Association of Governments’ Transportation Committee.

This is Zareh Sinanyan’s second term serving as Glendale’s Mayor. He last served in 2014-15.

“We must continue to make sure that our streets are safe, our parks and libraries are accessible and well equipped, and our schools are secure,” said Mayor Zareh Sinanyan. “As with the previous five years, fiscal responsibility and general financial health will remain a focal point during my mayorship.”

Mayor Sinanyan and his wife Lori Sinanyan have been married for 18 years. They have 4 children, three of whom are students at Mark Keppel Magnet Elementary School, and one who attends Eleanor J. Toll Middle School.
